OAKLEY BOWL-A-RAMA Wellington NZ 2010
The Biggest Concrete Series in the Southern Hemisphere, and now the biggest week of festivities in Wellington.

Diary Alert - Friday 12th and Saturday 13th of February

For the third year running, the infamous Waitangi Skatepark, Wellington will play host to OAKLEY BOWL-A-RAMA, not only the biggest concrete series in the Southern Hemisphere, but now the biggest week of festivities to hit Wellington!

Boasting a rumored line up of some of the most legendary skateboarders of our time including: Omar Hassan, Steve Caballero, Rune Glifberg, Pat Ngoho, Nicky Guerrero, Otavio Neto, Jackson Pilz, Juergen Horrwarth, Renton Miller and Corbin Harris; this year is set to be bigger than any other as Bowl-A-Rama launch their week of festivities leading up to the Friday and Saturday competition.

Bowl-A-Rama and all of the umbrella events leading up to the comp, have always been so much fun for professional skaters, families and the general public alike” Comments Bowl-A-Rama Director Chad Ford. “Bowl-A-Rama has always had the largest prize purse in New Zealand skateboarding history as well as the largest gathering of international skaters in New Zealand’s history. This year will be no exception. We grow every year and become more a part of the local fabric because of this. Our goal has always been to invite the international skate scene down to our neck of the woods to enjoy our fantastic summer skate lifestyle. With a week of amazing sponsor parties and festivities and the comp to cap it all we can’t think of a better way to celebrate skateboarding,” he adds.

Studies that have been conducted demonstrate that there is a major rise in the (population) trend of skateboarding amongst the public.

Oakley have just confirmed as the naming rights sponsors for 2010. “Oakley is stoked to present Wellington Bowl-a-Rama again this year. We see it as essential to our brands identity in Australasia and we always look forward to travelling to the event,” comments Dylan Radloff, Skate Manager at Oakley International. “Oakley believes Bowl-A-Rama is the best series of its type in the world, with the bowls and their positions, we feel the series will only grow bigger and better and we look forward to being an ongoing part of that.  Our team loves coming out for Bowl-a-Rama and who could blame them. We look forward to stoking out the locals with their skills yet again.,” he adds.

The week of celebrations kicks off with the official Oakley Love and Guts Art show hosted at Manky Chops Gallery on Wednesday 10th of February.

With the perfect terrain to cater to versatile skaters from all over the world, combined with the caliber of riders expected on the day and a total prize pot of US $20,000 and the new Bowl-A-Rama festival week, “skate fans and the general public alike will experience the most mind blowing action of the year!” teases Chad.

The Bowl-A-Rama festival will kick off on Wednesday 10th of February 2010 and the killer skating will commence Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th of February 2010 from 5pm.
